 Edgcumbe Hockey program summary

 This document provides an outline of the typical Edgcumbe hockey season.  It is not meant to provide all details.  It is not meant be completely accurate in all details.  This outline is simply to provide some general expectations of a typical season for a typical team.

 

General

Start (Bantams, Pee Wees, Squirts)

October (approximately the first weekend)

Games start around December 1

Games end around mid-February (Bantams later)

Year-end festivals late February (Bantams typically later)

Season ends in late February (Bantams typically later)

 

Bantams

60-70 indoor ice hours

16-20 games

Game/practice ratio between 2.5 and 4

Weekend and weekday indoor ice time

Team may schedule outdoor ice time

Tournament at team’s option and expenses

Year-end festival paid by association

Times per week, typically 4, occasionally 3 or 5, rare case 6

 

Peewees

55-65 indoor ice hours

14-18 games

Game/practice ratio between 2.5 and 4

Weekend and weekday indoor ice time

Team may schedule outdoor ice time

Times per week: typically 3 or 4, occasionally 2 or 4, rare case 5

Tournament at team’s option and expenses

Year-end festival paid by association

 

Squirts

45-55 indoor ice hours

10-14 games

Game/practice ratio between 2.5 and 4

Weekend indoor ice time (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Some away games on weeknights

Optional outdoor weeknight ice time

75%+ of time on weekends

Times per week: typically 3, occasionally 2 or 4, rare case 5

Langford Park and Edgcumbe tournaments paid by association

Year-end festival paid by association

 

 Mites

35-45 indoor ice hours

6-10 scrimmages

Scrimmage/practice ratio between 2.5 and 4

Weekend indoor ice time (Saturday, Sunday).  Consistent start times

Minimal away games on weeknights

Optional outdoor weeknight ice time

85%+ of time on weekends

Times per week: typically 2, infrequently 1 or 3, extremely rare case 4 (such as jamboree)

 Mini-mites

15-20 indoor ice hours

3-6 scrimmage

Scrimmage/practice ratio between 2 and 4

Weekend indoor ice time (Saturday and Sunday, consistent start time)

Optional outdoor weeknight ice time

Times per week: typically 1, infrequently 2, rare case 3 (such as jamboree)
